placement time!

I've just finished a work placement at the packaging and design company seymour powell: http://www.seymourpowell.com/casestudies/

I was based working in the packaging area of the company, where they were working on a brief for go-cat and french brand friskies (dog food). It was a really good opportunity to see real life briefs and how the graphic designers work.
I was able to watch over a photo shoot, it really made me realise how important the most tiniest parts are on packages! theres so much work that goes into the branding of a product and making it stand out to the right target audience, from colour to text...it made me appreciate cat biscuits a bit more!

the whole experience made me feel a lot more confident about where my own work is going, and where it could go once I have finished at uni. I managed to speak to a lot of graphic designers that have been in the busy for a long time as well as re-touchers and designers. They all gave really good advice and told me how all of their careers came about.
